About

Andrew was born April 15, 1978, in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in nearby Ferndale. His fascination with comics, horror & Sci-Fi films and TV began at a very early age. His first comic was a copy of 2,000 A.D. #3 (1985) staring Judge Dredd and it was given to him by his older brother's high school friend Robert L. Washington III (who would later go on to co-create Static at Milestone Media and write for such titles as Extreme JusticeThe Batman ChroniclesJLA Secret FilesNinjak and Shadow Cabinet in the 1990s but we all called him Bobo). A year later, Andrew's brother would get him a subscription to The Amazing Spider-Man, then drawn by comics legend Todd McFarlane...and it was all downhill from there.

He eventually found a job (sort of) working at a local comic shop called Comics Cafe for another well-known Detroit writer Todd Johnson

(who with artist Larry Stroman co-created Tribe for Image Comics). After a few years and a few small projects, Andrew landed in Los Angeles, California, where he tried to do whatever he could to work as an artist in any capacity. Working on paintings for art shows, assisting Andy Dick on a photo gallery show, Assisting the legendary graphic artist and painter David Willardson, and eventually working on the comic All Crime Comics #1 and Dames in the Atomic Age for Art of Fiction where he got to work with one of his heroes, Bruce Timm.
